I have exactly the same problem (usng IE8 with IE7 emulation turned on). The funny thing is - it worked for minutes at home yesterday on the same machine: EDIT: I have installed Office 2007 (fresh) and the online update for workspace on another machine (but using IE7) - there it works! Cannot open/save to Workspace from Office 2007.
I cannot open or save to a Workspace from the office button menu in an office program. l am using Windows Vista SP1 Ultimate Edition and Microsoft Office 2007 SP1 Ultimate Edition. I attempted to install the Update 1.1 but it failed when it could not install a required update while Internet Explorer...
