Why does some computer would show "edit" but some won't

Hi,

I installed Office Live in different computers, which all carry Office live update and add-on and are all IE7 version with XP SP3. The Office I use are all the same edition among different computers. However, I found that some of the computers would show "Edit" icon on the upper right of the screen when using OLW which allows me to use Office in the computer to edit, but some computers don't. I've checked the internet IE7 settings, security, etc, and they're all the same? Can someone tells me why this happened?

Re: Why does some computer would show "edit" but some won't

Hi Zoe,

Looks like ActiveX control showing the Edit button has been disabled on some of your machines. First sign in to Office Live Workspace on the affected machine and go to document preview page, where Edit button is missing. Then go to Tools->Manage Add-ons->Enable or disable Add-ons. You should see a list of currently loaded add-ons. Look for items with name starting with "SharePoint" and enable them in case they are disabled. After clicking OK you should see the Edit button.

I hope this will solve your issue.

Hi, Przemyslaw

I had checked the Tools->Manage Add-ons->Enable or disable Add-ons, but not found the "SharePoint" ActiveX control, How can I install this one?
The OLW seems not install it automatically?

Hi Zoe,

Those ActiveX come from Microsoft Office. Do you have it installed on those machines?

Re: Why does some computer would show "edit" but some won't

Hi, Przemyslaw

I think that is not ActiveX problem, I checked the IE had "Edit Icon" seems not has SharePoint or Office ActiveX inside

another funny thing is FileFox 3.0 had show the "Edit Icon"

 IE 7, no "Edit Icon"

In "Manage add-ons" dialog there is a drop down with 4 categories of add-ons. Do you see SharePoint add-ons in any of those lists?
