Email Activity Notification

I have 3 workspaces that I have shared with various groups.  Only 1 sends me email notifications when it has changed, however, all 3  have that option checked.  I can see the activity when I log on, just not by email.  Please help...

Re: Email Activity Notification

Hi,

The activity email setting applies to all workspaces, so all three of your workspaces should be generating activity emails. You might be logging in too frequently to actually generate mails. From our help topics:

Office Live Workspace sends you an activity e-mail message the first time that a change occurs in a workspace since your last visit to that workspace. However, to keep you informed of workspace activity without filling your Inbox with messages, you receive a maximum of one e-mail message per workspace per 24-hour period. Additionally, after you receive an activity e-mail message, you will not receive another for the same workspace until after the next time that you visit that workspace.

I recently wrote a blog post that explains the feature in more detail: https://officeliveworkspacecommunity.com/blogs/teamblog/archive/2008/04/09/new-activity-features-let-you-see-and-learn-about-workspace-changes.aspx

We're evaluating some possible enhancements to this feature; could you describe the scenarios you would like to see addressed with activity mails?

Thanks,

Avi

Just signed on to Office Live and find it very useful, in general.  However, our company DOES want the e-mail notifications sent in real time.  We're using Office Live for daily/hourly/minute communications and would like to see at least an option to choose how often e-mail notifications are sent (choose from, immediate, hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, annually).  Would someone please inform if this is being considered?  I think many users would benefit from having the option of how frequently they want e-mail notifications sent.  Would really like to hear a reply on this from the developers.  If we cannot increase the frequency of e-mail notifications, then Office Live is dead for our company.  Thanks!  :)

Re: Email Activity Notification

I'm using the workspace for more creative things. For example: A friend of mine began writing a short story (of sorts) on her new workspace and then shared that partial story with me (so that I could add to it). Now, I was notified that she had shared a document with me however that original notice was the ONLY notice that I've received...even though we've each made additions or changes to the document at least twice over the period of a week or so, I've received no other activity e-mail. And, yes, I have that box checked on the workspace.

Naturally, since I've not been notified of any activity, I try to log in every day or two. I've only discovered the 'activity' by accident — rather than because of 'activity e-mails.'

Even from a non-business perspective, people should be notified of any and all changes to a document regardless of the number within a 24-hour period. Otherwise, this "workspace" concept is, essentially, a waste of space.
