Is the “Send me activity e-mails” consistently working for anyone?

Please forgive me if this issue has been discussed. I may have missed it. The "Send me activity e-mails", or what could be considered alerts, released with the new version has never worked consistently. It would be a good option if it worked, but we only have had four or five come through from maybe one or more workspaces and we have over a hundred workspaces with probably over a thousand documents. There is no summary report, which would be nice to have, so I do not know the exact number. Is this working for anyone?  Trying to manage all these workspaces while having to go in one at a time to see updates is a daunting task but would be simple with alerts, or what I guess is being called activity emails. I have it check marked and have tried different scenarios...checking it and unchecking it. We posted a comment in this workspace community concerning this issue, but it was removed. Additionally, we have made calls to tech support and the product team directly, to no avail.  Can others confirm and link or refer me to other forum entries or such? A side note; in the future it would be a nice courtesy to be notified when and why a post is pulled. The most recent ticket numbers concerning this are 1059599708 and 1060750185, although I have called other times.

Thank you,

Brian Woytovich

Re: Is the “Send me activity e-mails” consistently working for anyone?

Hi Brian,

For our help topic on email notifications:

Office Live Workspace sends you an activity e-mail message the first time that a change occurs in a workspace since your last visit to that workspace. However, to keep you informed of workspace activity without filling your Inbox with messages, you receive a maximum of one e-mail message per workspace per 24-hour period. Additionally, after you receive an activity e-mail message, you will not receive another for the same workspace until after the next time that you visit that workspace.

If you're logging in with a very high frequency (> once per day) or a very low frequency you will rarely receive activity emails.

Could you describe the scenarios you would like to see addressed with activity mails?

 Thanks,

Avrum

Re: Is the “Send me activity e-mails” consistently working for anyone?

Thank you for responding to my recent comment. A more detailed example of what we need is seen in the following example.  In a workspace, I posted a voice file concerning a project we are working on and I would like everyone having permissions to the workspace to know about the post.  The way it stands now I have to physically e-mail each person to inform them.  Many of these postings are time sensitive, and to expedite matters I could just send an e-mail. I don’t though because it is information archived for future reference and additionally it encourages people to use the workspaces.  I cannot overemphasize the necessity of alerts. It is majorly important to our work and we need it quickly.  For instance, after I posted the voice file to the workspace, I also posted it to a workspace for all our freelancers and asked them to comment. I ‘just happened’ to noticed one of the freelancers commented on something I hadn’t caught.  Alerts would have brought this to my attention immediately.  While overseeing more than a hundred workspaces it is impossible to catch every post.  Please Avrum, we truly need these alerts ASAP. We have had some complaints on the Office Live Small Business side and temporarily moved everyone over to these workspaces. Our business has chosen no other platform to operate upon. We understand this is beta, but for us it’s a cut to Small Business until those problems can be resolved; which in our estimation are much greater than the problems in workspaces. Thanks again for this platform. It’s truly revolutionizing the way we work. If there’s anything you can do, please do it quickly.  Our only other request is for folders. Presently we are creating backups for all our active workspaces in order for them not to be overly cluttered.  I made a previous comment in response to another comment concerning this.

Thanks,

Brian/Treebreeze

PS Asked a question somewhere else about changing my name please contact me directly concerning this, if this can be done, I am referring  to this here because I never got a repose where I first posted it.

 Hi, Treebeeze.

I have forwarded your query about change of username. I hope you get a favorable response. Your original query was posted in a blog so would not get the desired attention. If you want to refresh yourself it can be seen here: Update to Office Live Workspace

Re: Is the “Send me activity e-mails” consistently working for anyone?

"We posted a comment in this workspace community concerning this issue, but it was removed"

There are only a few reasons why a post would be removed. If it is abusive, unrelated in any way to OfficeLive, includes unsafe attachements, or obviously misleading information, a moderator may move it to the moderation queue. An admin (usually me, although Fili will be more and more active in that regard) will come along later and decide whether the post merited the action and then either reinstate the post, or move it to the deleted forum (a post graveyard). Otherwise, we don't delete posts.

I looked for posts on this subject in the deleted forum and in fact found one that might be related. The post had a brief title, but there was no other text associated with it. I suspect it was removed for that reason. I'll make it clear to the moderators that posts without text should remain unless they otherwise break the rules. I wasn't particularly clear in my instruction in that regard.

My apologies.
