The whole point of using an Office Live Workspace for me would be if
a, I could open, edit, and resave documents (any documents from the Office 2007 suite, including Excell, One Note and PowerPoint) without the need to download to local machine and then upload again. That would be excellent - but at present fails every time I try.
b, I could synchronise my online version with a local version on my primary machine using something similar to the way Groove works with MOSS (I have posted on the other thread about this, but no progress there either)
If I cannot open, edit and resave, which currently I have not been able to despite having installed the office add in on all the machines I currently use (4 different machines, two on Vista and two on XP) then Office Live Workspace offers me nothing over and above SkyDrive so far as I can see.
Sure there are links, activity panes, previews and other rich features - but thats all gloss if the basic operation does not work
All this mention about clean machines, clearing credentials, changing settings, applying updates is nonsense. The whole point of an online resource is the ability to access it from anywhere, on any machine, as I can files on SkyDrive. I am lucky that the 4 machines I regularly use allow me some control, but what about using machines in Libraries, Internet Cafes, hotels or companies I visit - is it realistic to expect to ask to see their IT support guys and get them to clean and upgrade their machines so I can edit a presentation I`m about to give? Get real.
Please let me know when this is fixed and works as expected - at present keeping an 8GB usb drive (backed up of course) in my case seems more effective which is a shame.
Best wishes
