Sharing User defined fields for Tasks & Contacts

I'm using OL07 and intend to share Task and Contact information with 5-6 associates.  Some (most) of my associates are still on OL03 (?).  I make extensive use of User Defined fields in both Task & Contact folders.  Is it possible to copy them to OLW or to share them with users?

I would also like to share the categories I've established.

I'm afraid I know what the answer is going to be, but let'er rip anyway.

Regards,

Ken

Re: Sharing User defined fields for Tasks & Contacts

Hi Pyramid.

Office Live Workspace supports user defined fields in both Task Lists and Contact Lists.  The Sync with Outlook feature, however, does not sync these additional fields.  As long as you work with your Task Lists and Contact Lists in the browser, you will be fine.

Custom field syncing is something that we are aware of.  Thanks for the feedback.

Re: Sharing User defined fields for Tasks & Contacts

Oscar,

Thanks for the reply. How does one create User Defined fields for Tasks and Contacts?  Couldn't find anything in Help.

What about Categories?  I assume they cannot be synced with OL.  Are they available in OLW and if so, how do I set them up?

Re: Sharing User defined fields for Tasks & Contacts

Hi Pyramid,

Here are the steps to adding custom fields for Tasks and Contacts from within the OLW service.

- Click on the list that you are interested in and select the "Edit" button.  The list editor should appear.
- An "Add Column" button will allow you to add additional fields.  Type the name of the new column.
- The Datatype for the column can be chosen using the arrow to the right of the column name.  You can also choose sorting this way.

Give it a try and let us know what you think...

[Edit] No, Categories aren't currently supported...

Re: Sharing User defined fields for Tasks & Contacts

How do I start a topic in this forum? I only see reply options.

Also, I tried to upload a office word resume document and got a message " your document does not have a doc. extension. please use a .doc file"

anyone know where I can change my settings to accomplish this problem?.

Re: Sharing User defined fields for Tasks & Contacts

I am using task lists in my workspaces (which works fine - more or less - it's a beta ;-))

I'd like also to sync the Body field of task items. Is that possible? I added an user defined column of type "Multiple lines of text". How can I map it to the Outlook task item Body field?

Why I am thinking that it maybe possible:I was surprised that a user defined column named Completed causes Outlook to strike out the text if the task is completed at OL side. Also user defined Priority column works:

OL                        Outlook

Completed             User defined Status
Hight Priority          User defined Priority (Normal, High) - Low seems not supported
