Can't access workspace

When I try to access a workspace, the site hangs with the green dots spinning continuously in a circle.  The message from the lower left says:

Line: 0 Char: 22310 Error: 'Olw.UI.Application.pageUnLoad' is null or not an object Code: 0 URL: http://workspace.office.live.com

I have a Windows Live ID and have signed up for Office Live, but I still get this error.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Re: Can't access workspace

jdreis, try clearing your temporary internet files and see if that helps.

If not, let us know

  • What operating system you're using (and what SP)
  • What browser and version you're using

Thanks

Chris

Re: Can't access workspace

I've done those things multiple times.  I'm using IE6 with XP SP2.  I've just seen some other posts about doing some net tracing and sending it to the support people to figure it out, so that's my next step.  I'm also pursuing getting my employer to push SP3 to my machine.

I've been able to access the workspace using Firefox on the same machine, and I've also been able to install officelive for the local Office applications, but the problem is the button in the office application pulls up the not working IE browser.  Is there a setting to prefer Firefox when loading the Office live site from the local app?

Re: Can't access workspace

You're on the right track with the tracking and SP3 upgrade - we've seen that help out users. One user had various toolbars installed that they claimed, after uninstalling them, resolved the issue.

I'll forward your add-in issue on to the owner of that area for comment.

Re: Can't access workspace

Could this have to do with a restrictive firewall?
What ports would need to be open for incoming connections?

Re: Can't access workspace

Unlikely since it is only HTTP traffic for using workspace.officelive.com. If the add-in for the clients wan't allowing someone to sign in or show the list of workspaces in the UI, there may be an issue there, but I believe we created the add-in to not require any special ports. In the past with other users we've ruled out firewall as the culprit.

Re: Can't access workspace

I am having the same problem over the last several days. I also get the endlessly recycling green bar. It started at the end of last week, I think. I have no problem on my home computer... Running Norton 360 2.0 on WinXP SP3, disabling Phishing did not seem to do anything. Will try the temp file suggestion.

Trying to figure out if I have changed something, but haven't installed or made any changes till today. I'm trying to managint an important project, and hope someone can figure this one out.

Re: Can't access workspace

Please try clearing temp files. We're actively looking at this issue since more users are reporting it. I can say that in our testing, the issue has usually been fixed by clearing temp files first, and if that fails, upgrading to XP SP3. Let us know if that doesn't work for you.

Re: Can't access workspace

Just cleared the temp files, and it seems to have worked. We'll see if it continues to be good... As for XP SP3, that's another issue...
