Did you create a new LiveID for your new email or did you change the email address for the original LiveID? If you are unsure, here are two sanity checks:

If you created a new LiveID, you would have been given a new workspace account without any of your previous data.

If you changed the email address for your original LiveID, your old data should have been accessible to you.
If you changed the email address associated with the original LiveID (Second bullet above), your new email address should be used for activity mails. If you aren't receiving mails any longer, we may need to get support involved.
