Office live limitations

As far as I can tell, Office Live is for Office 2007 or later documents, if you want to edit the documents.

This is one small, but very clear explanation of why Microsoft is having problems catching Google in the area of Internet presence.

If MS wants more ad clicks, do everything possible to attract more people/users.

I havn't done the survey, but I've got to believe the numbers of Office 2K users are still very high.

I use Office 2K extensively. I've just recently moved into online access of some of these docs.

I'm sure it's the way of the future. The small business (and personal)  network for documents is simply evolving from LAN to WAN,

the same place enteprise companies have been for many years.

Poor decision making on MS' part. Their announced primary focus is ad/internet presence.

Stick to this focus, don't worry about new Office 2007 sales, get the job done, make smart, productive decisions.

Re: Office live limitations

Thanks for your feedback.

You're right that Office 2000 is not supported, but just to be clear, Office Live Workspace supports Office XP, 2003, or 2007 for editing documents, as described on this page:

If you are using FireFox, then the Edit button will not appear regardless of whether you have Office, but the Office Live Add-in supports Office XP, 2003 and 2007 and can be used to open and save directly back to the workspace. Of course, we have also heard the feedback asking for browser-initiated editing of Office documents in FireFox.

 Hope that helps,

ned
