Recovering deleted documents is easy

Does this sound familiar? Your workspace is crowded with so many outdated documents that it’s hard to find the ones you use most frequently. You clean out your workspace by sending those old files to the Deleted Items workspace. Naturally, no sooner do you do so, you receive a request for one of those deleted documents!

There’s no need to panic. Office Live Workspace has a nifty protective feature. After you move a document to the Deleted Items workspace, it remains there for 30 days before it is permanently deleted. If you have a change of heart during that window of time, you can grab the document back.

Just click Deleted Items on the left navigation pane. In the Deleted Items workspace, select the document that you want to retrieve, and then click Restore.

Your document disappears from the Deleted Items workspace, and appears in its original workspace location.

Keep in mind that a document that travels to the Deleted Items workspace and then back to its original workspace undergoes some slight transformation. Any comments and sharing rights that were associated with the document before you deleted it are lost when you restore it. But that’s a small price to pay for the peace of mind that the 30-day deletion reprieve provides.
